Reflection 5 (free choice of topic)

On this week, all English teachers had a one-day workshop from ADEC about Child Protection Law. They discussed the definition of child protection and the several types of abuse against children. Furthermore, they focus on determining duties and responsibilities of teachers in the process of reporting any suspected cases of abuse in Khalifa A School.

Throughout this workshop, I figure out a new responsibility for a teacher which supervise students and recognize any possible signs of abuse. Then, the teacher should report her concerns about any case to the school principal. In my opinion, authorize teachers to do this duty is a wise decision because students spend a long time in schools. As I learned today, the school will cooperate with the Ministry Of Interior – Child Protection Center (MOI-CPC) in order to solve any abuse’s case. When I thought about a new child protection policy in ADEC schools I realize the essential role that teachers will play in protecting innocent children.

In general, I learned that teachers still need awareness meetings from time to time about new changes. Moreover, I build a solid background information about signs of different types of abuse such as physical, emotional, sexual, neglect and bullying.  Also, I learned that in future I can share cases data only with school principle, MOI-CPC or Social Support Center. As a student teacher, I become more aware of my future part on applying (Wadeema law) to protect children in schools.
